sankofa bird

The “Sankofa” is a metaphorical symbol used by the Akan people of Ghana, generally depicted as a bird with its head turned backward taking an egg from its back. It expresses the importance of reaching back to knowledge gained in the past and bringing it into the present in order to make positive progress.  What poem or speech inspires you to reflect on your history and helps to provide direction for your successful future?

International Baccalaureate School
The International Baccalaureate (IB) system of education for three to nineteen-year-olds is unique because of its academic and personal rigor. We challenge students to excel in their studies and in their personal growth. The IB system aspires to help schools develop well-rounded students who make ethical decisions, join with others in celebrating our common humanity and are prepared to apply what they learned in real-world, complex and unpredictable situations. As IB schools, Lincoln and Lincoln Middle fully embrace this system and boast a high level of achievement from our staff and students.
